Candida

Candida is a fungal organism that resides in the mucous membranes of the throat, nails and vagina. It is found in nearly everyone and provided the body can keep it in check it does no harm. Unfortunately all too often the delicate balance of ‘friendly’ and ‘unfriendly’ organisms in the intestines is disrupted by antibiotics, artificial hormones, stress or poor food choices enabling candida to grow out of control. Candida colonies produce powerful toxins which are absorbed into the blood stream and affect our immune system, hormone balance, and thought processes. The symptoms of candida overgrowth are diverse and varied and include constipation or diarrhea, bloating, flatulence, fatigue, food and environmental sensitivities, headaches, depression, insomnia mood swings, fuzzy thinking, PMS, low blood sugar, recurring vaginal and bladder infections and ringing in the ears.

Identification and treatment of candida is vital to provide relief from an array of symptoms. Our treatment programmes are designed to reduce levels of candida in the body, boost levels of friendly bacteria, optimize digestion and to heal any associated gut damage. We will also aim to identify and address any underlying health issues which may have enabled candida to proliferate in the first place.
