Statin Drugs May Increase the Risk of Diabetes

Research published in the Archives of Internal Medicine suggests that statins (the family of cholesterol lowering drugs), may increase the risk of diabetes in postmenopausal women. In the study, those taking statin drugs were shown to have a 48% increased risk of developing diabetes. Statin drugs have also been linked to other health problems such as muscle issues and increased risk of some cancers
